Pre-MBA Growth Equity Associate

Arrowroot Capital seeks a pre-MBA Growth Equity Associate for our Santa Monica Office. This is a potential Partner-track position upon successful completion of an initial 3-year Associate program. Arrowroot Associates identify, contact and build relationships with founders of successful private software companies that are identified as target companies based on the company’s financial metrics and market research. This person will play a significant role in supporting senior investment professionals in evaluating and executing investment transactions and portfolio management. 

Transaction Sourcing, Evaluation and Execution: 

  • Sourcing, assessment and tracking of new investment opportunities
  • Market research and investment thesis development
  • Investment due diligence (financial, competitive, strategic, etc.)
  • Detailed financial projection / returns modeling and valuation analysis

Portfolio Company Support: 

  • Financial modeling, updating portfolio reports, budgeting and general analytical support
  • Support in operating plan development, strategic initiatives and corporate development

Investment Portfolio Tracking, Monitoring and Reporting: 

  • Financial and operating performance monitoring and reporting
  • Valuation modeling and capitalization tracking
  • Limited partner reporting and information request support

Necessary skill set: 

  • Candidate should have 1-3 years of investment banking experience (ideally within Software / Technology group); MBAs will not be considered
  • Top performer within peer group in the following areas: qualitative and quantitative analytical skills, understanding of finance, financial modeling, business judgment, and attention to detail
  • High degree of intellectual curiosity, proactive mentality and desire to work in an unstructured, entrepreneurial environment
  • High level of integrity with strong professional references
  • Very strong written and oral communication skills
  • Superior Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills required
  • Applicants must either live in the Los Angeles area or have strong ties to the area
