Clem leads Arrowroot's Strategic Resources Group and is responsible for overseeing SRG Directors, conducting operational due diligence and providing operational assistance and support to portfolio companies.
Clem brings 20+ years of experience as a technology and operations executive to Arrowroot, focusing on assessment of potential investments in the areas of technical maturity, operational processes, scalability, and strength of the company’s delivery team. He has been an early stage employee of three separate companies, staying with each through a successful IPO. Clem’s early career was spent with top tier enterprise software companies, beginning with progressive roles in the consulting groups of Oracle, Forte Software and Vitria Technology. In 2000, Clem co-founded and was the original CTO of WageWorks (NYSE: WAGE), the leading provider of consumer directed benefits. In that role, he built one of the first modern SaaS platforms for benefits administration, which was the foundation for the company’s organic and acquisitive growth from zero to over $80MM in recurring revenue in seven years. In 2009, Clem was made the SVP and General Manager of the Commuter Services group and served in that role as the division grew to from $30MM to $50MM. He stayed in that role through WageWorks’ IPO in 2012, before signing on as the COO of a smaller, private software firm focused on HR compliance, employment eligibility and immigration processes.
Clem currently sits on the board of ServiceAide and ICIX and also serves as a board observer for Agilence.
